Mr. Zhang Quan, director of the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM) and director of the Shanghai Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, met with Mr. Zheng Zhijie, chief representative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Beijing, and his delegation on the afternoon of August 29, 2022. They had friendly exchanges on strengthening cooperation on a larger scope and a deeper level, jointly promoting the building of Shanghai into an international center of scientific and technological innovation and facilitating the achievement of global health and development goals. Present at the meeting were Ms. Lang Lin and Ms. Xu Fujie, deputy directors of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Beijing, representatives of relevant departments of the Foundation, Mr. Chen Hongkai, inspector from STCSM, and representatives from relevant departments of STCSM and the Shanghai Center of Biomedicine Development. 

Since 2020, the two parties have held the Global Health and Development Summit under the Pujiang Innovation Forum for three consecutive years and worked together in international academic exchanges, like the Shanghai International Forum on Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industry and global health and development research projects. As a result, the two parties reached a consensus on jointly building Shanghai into an excellent global center for health and development, carrying out exchanges on innovations in science and technology, and exploring new ways of biomedical cooperation.
